Message The phrase "generate enough load" is misleading. What IS enough load? There's no hard number on this. Aside from that, he's right in that the gears lower the load on the turbos for building boost, HOWEVER what you lose in that you gain in the sheer gearing of the car. On a stock turbo car, the gains are HUGE and well worth the tradeoff.

End result: The car is still quicker than it was without them.
Secondary bonus: You're working the turbos less and still going quicker =)

As you get into the larger turbos, this starts to be less and less true but so far we have cars up into the Greddy TD05-18G range that have shown benefits. We have a few going even bigger just to see what happens :)

"If I'm an asshole it's only because I've been turned into one by the sheer
amount of stupid people and stupid logic that dominate Twinturbo.net today."
